I made this three years ago, after first seeing The Prestige. Damn fine film. Bit of a hokey triptych, but a damn fine film.
I post it now because I just watched The Prestige again, first time since seeing it in the theatre.
And it is still a DAMN FINE FILM. Beyond the solid acting, the sharp plotting, beyond all that there is the exacting pace of the film which builds to this tragic and potent finale. I just shook my head at the skill evidenced.
Just thought I’d share.
The Prestige is still one of the best films I’ve ever seen. What’s even more mind-boggling about the film is that Chris Nolan did Batman Begins just before Prestige, then went on to direct The Dark Knight. Just bam bam bam, three amazing films, almost effortlessly. Makes me shake my head in adoration.
